CHC40108 - Certificate IV in Aged Care

The Certificate IV in Aged Care Work is for people who are already employed in the aged care industry and have a Certificate III in Aged Care Work. The course will develop the individual’s knowledge and skills to undertake work and team leadership roles and assist with medications within aged care residential services.

Entry Requirements

You need to have completed a Certificate III in Aged Care, have been employed for a minimum of 12 months and be currently employed in the industry or be recognised as competent either by a training program or recognition process, against the following core units from Certificate III in Aged Care:

  • CHCAC318A Work effectively with older people
  • CHCAC319A Provide support to people living with dementia
  • CHCCS411A Work effectively in the community sector
  • CHCICS303A Support individual health and emotional well being
  • CHCPA301B Deliver care services using a palliative approach
  • HLTAP301A Recognise healthy body systems in a health care context

You must also undergo a police check for a criminal background in order to work in this field. A senior First Aid Certificate is strongly recommended.

Assessment

The experienced ABRA QLD Training Team adopts a supportive, flexible and holistic approach in assessing competence against the units for each of the qualifications on our scope. All learners with ABRA QLD are offered the opportunity for recognition of pre-existing skills, knowledge and experience (RPL) towards their qualification upon enrolment.

Our assessment strategies cover a range of methods that may include written question and answers, reports, group activities, practical work, observation and discussion. Some courses require successful completion of a Vocational Placement as part of the assessment process.
