CHC42008 - Certificate IV in Employment Services

This qualification addresses the requirements for employment consultants and other staff working in the provision of a range of Employment Services.

These workers:

  • Apply knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide training, encouragement, advice and support to people on Centrelink benefits that are required to meet participation requirements
  • Report to service managers and may liaise with government other service agencies
  • May work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers.
  • May be involved in a wide range of activities related to assisting people to identify and pursue suitable employment options

Pre-Requisite

There is a requirement to be able to effectively communicate face to face, by telephone and/or in written format with multiple stakeholders therefore functional language, literacy and numeracy as well as average to above average communication skills are required as a pre-requisite to working in the employment services industry.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification however it is recommended students are 18 years of age and have a minimum sound level of English and Maths. There is a requirement within the industry to work and learn with complex computerised reporting systems, therefore it is also expected that students are competent in computer usage when entering the industry.

The importance of culturally aware and respectful practices: All workers undertaking employment services work need foundation knowledge to inform their work with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander clients and co-workers and also to support work with co-workers and clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

ABRA QLD supports all learners by profiling their individual language, literacy and numeracy skills prior to commencement and throughout the training and assessment process.

Qualification Requirements

To achieve a Certificate IV in Employment Services, students must complete fourteen units for this qualification, comprising:

Assessment

The experienced ABRA QLD Training Team adopts a supportive, flexible and holistic approach in assessing competence against the units for each of the qualifications on our scope. All learners with ABRA QLD are offered the opportunity for recognition of pre-existing skills, knowledge and experience (RPL) towards their qualification upon enrolment.

Our assessment strategies cover a range of methods that may include written question and answers, reports, group activities, practical work, observation and discussion. Some courses require successful completion of a Vocational Placement as part of the assessment process.

The Certificate IV in Employment Services will enable students to establish a career path to Diploma of Employment Services and also to higher industry roles.

Delivery

This program is delivered by distance using electronic mail (email). In general students need to complete this qualification within 12 months. However, as our distance education is self-paced students can complete a course in less than this time.
