CHC40208 - Certificate IV in Home and Community Care

The Certificate IV in Home and Community Care is for people who work or want to work caring for clients or groups of clients in their homes or in another community setting. You may provide personal care services for elderly or disabled clients with complex needs to maintain their individual well being. You may also supervise and coordinate a small group of other workers.

Entry Requirements

To gain entry into Certificate IV in Home and Community Care a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following core units from Certificate III in Home and Community Care:

  • CHCAC318A Work effectively with older people
  • CHCDIS301A Work effectively with people with a disability
  • CHCICS304A Work effectively with carers

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

ABRA QLD supports all learners by profiling their individual language, literacy and numeracy skills prior to commencement and throughout the training and assessment process.

Qualification Requirements

To achieve a Certificate IV in Home and Community Care, students must complete fifteen units for this qualification, comprising:

Assessment

The experienced ABRA QLD Training Team adopts a supportive, flexible and holistic approach in assessing competence against the units for each of the qualifications on our scope. All learners with ABRA QLD are offered the opportunity for recognition of pre-existing skills, knowledge and experience (RPL) towards their qualification upon enrolment.

Our assessment strategies cover a range of methods that may include written question and answers, reports, group activities, practical work, observation and discussion. Some courses require successful completion of a Vocational Placement as part of the assessment process.

Delivery
